409

Cause​

The user is already on the target merchant's team with status active, or they have a pending invite on that merchant. Assign member does not change roles for existing members.

How to fix​

  • If they already have access, no further assign call is needed.
  • To change their role, use dashboard team management on that merchant (not this Public API route).
  • If they were removed earlier, assign can reactivate them — this error only applies when they are still active or invited.
